Lifestyle and Outdoor Newborn Photography Session

Lifestyle and Outdoor Newborn Photography Session by McKenna Pendergrass. A gorgeous backyard newborn session with a wooden chest and flower crowns.  Big sister kissing baby sister.  Lifestyle Photos of family on the bed.

I know that I say this often (and especially in this last year!!) but I LOVE having repeat baby plan clients!  I love getting to know their little families, and watching them grow!  The big sister in this session had just finished up her baby plan with me (See her photos here) when her mama told me that she was pregnant again, and I am so beyond happy to have excuses to see them again this next year!  And isn’t Miss Kenzie just so beautiful?!

Tell us your story:  Little Miss Kenzie is our 4th baby. It took me a few weeks to come to grips with the thought of having another baby….since I was still nursing a 9 month old. She is a pure joy to have around. She gives us lots of smiles(especially for my husband) and even a few giggles. I can’t imagine life without her!

How did you choose your baby’s name?  Since all of our babies have names that start with “K” we didn’t want her to feel left out! Her middle name is Catherine after Her Grandma and her Great Grandma.

Who do you think your little one looks like most?  I finally got one that looks just like me!

What is your favorite part about having your baby here with you?  She has been the hardest one to get to sleep through the night, and she is really loud when she is trying to go back to sleep….so when I feed her early in the morning I lay out on the couch with her on my chest till she can get comfy and fall back asleep. I’ve come to enjoy this quiet cuddle time more than any other time with her(since there isn’t much quiet about our house). Sometimes we both fall asleep and wake up hours later nose to nose. Im starting to miss it now that she is sleeping longer:(

** The headbands above were made by the lovely mama who runs Pretty In Pink Supply.  Check out her Facebook page and her Etsy shop for some gorgeous headband building supplies!**

How is your life different now that you have a new baby in the house with so many older kids?  How are the siblings adjusting to another baby in the house?  The boys are completely in love with her…..Kate has a love/jealously/love relationship with her. Sometime she tries to hug her and kiss her so much that Kenzie just about can’t handle any more love!

What things have helped you adjust to multiple kids?  Anything you can’t live without?  My husband has helped more than any other person or thing that could help. He has jumped right in and helped more with every child that we have. And I pretty much couldn’t live with out hime either!

Favorite baby related funny story:  I have to watch out for Kenzie while she is napping. The “other” mommy(Kate) will climb up on the bassinet and give her a blanket (usually right over her face) or try to jam a pacifier into her sleeping face. Kate is suddenly very into this mommy thing. The other day she pulled out her rocking chair and decided she was going to “feed” her baby while I fed mine!

Maternity Photos with Siblings

maternity photos with siblings.  Victorville, High Desert maternity photographer. Maternity Photography by McKenna Pendergrass Photography.

I just love doing maternity photos with older siblings!  You can just tell that this baby girl is already so loved by her older sister and brother (mom and dad too of course!).

This session was more of an adventure than we originally anticipated!  It ended up getting really stormy that day, but the wind let up in the evening just long enough for us to shoot… and the rain started just as we were finishing our last photo!  How often can you say that your session got rained on in the High Desert!  Haha!

Tell us your story:  Jason and I have been married for four years and are on our third child! We’ve known each other since 2007 and he was the pastor who baptized me. We both ended up in Orange County around the same time and that’s where we started dating and then married!

.

How did you find out that you were pregnant?  What was your reaction?  Baby fever got me pregnant. We were done after Eli and now here comes Baby Girl Dos! I was excited when it was confirmed because I knew Jason would be elated.

How has your pregnancy treated you so far?  So far, with only 5 days to go, this pregnancy has been about the same as our first. That’s why I knew the baby was a girl from the beginning.

What are you looking forward to most about adding another baby to the family?   I’m a little nervous because I hear a family of five is a whole new world. We can do it though. We’ve got tons of support and our little ones are so excited. It’ll be fun watching the baby grow up through their eyes. Almost like watching a parade through their eyes except you have to clean up after the horses. Good times!

Tis the season of past newborns becoming big siblings!  It seems like just yesterday that this little lady was a newborn in my studio, and now she’s such a good big sister!

Tell us your story:  My husband and I are high school sweethearts, and we have been married almost 7 years now. We have a beautiful 2 and a half year old daughter and now a sweet little baby boy. I feel blessed to say that both of my labors were quick and relatively easy!

How did you choose your baby’s name?  We named our son Logan Michael. Logan was a name we both have liked for a long time, however it took is a long time to finally settle on his name. His middle name, Michael, is also my husbands middle name which he got from his dad.

Who do you think your little one looks like most?  As of now, I think our son looks most like my sister’s oldest son. But of course, every family member has a different opinion so I really think we will have to wait and see!

What is your favorite part about having your baby here with you?  My favorite part of having my son here is just having those newborn snuggles again. I also love seeing our daughter as a big sister, and I am so looking forward to seeing the two of them interact more as Logan gets older.

Any tips for making your hospital stay more comfortable? Was there anything that you did to prepare your for delivery, or that you felt helped you during labor?  I am a minimalist, so for me I felt at peace just taking as little as possible to the hospital – less to stress about! Just a comfy set of clothes to go home in, and my camera! I didn’t really do much to prepare for my labor because I assumed it was going to be pretty quick – and thankfully I was right! I was a lot more active during my second pregnancy, and I feel like that may have helped me bounce back a little quicker this time around.

How are you adjusting to multiple kids? Any tips for preparing an older sibling for a new baby?  I feel like the adjustments we have made as a family have been a lot smoother going from 1 to 2 kids, than it was for us to be first time parents. The second time around you already know what to expect, and you just don’t stress as much. Our daughter has done so well welcoming our son into the family. When I was pregnant, I had as many conversations as I could with her about her new brother. We talked about him every day. I also believe baby dolls really help. Pretend play is a great way to prepare a toddler for the real thing.

Favorite baby related funny story:   Being a minimalist, I have been in denial a little bit about the need to carry a diaper bag again. Our first few times back at church I just took a diaper for Logan in my purse. Well, when he was about three weeks old, I had to change his diaper before we left the nursery. He ended up peeing all over himself, his outfit, his blanket, and ruined a few diapers as I was trying to do damage control. Thankfully our church nursery had extra clothes, diapers, and a blanket for him to go home in. Needless to say…I now reluctantly carry a diaper bag!

Tell us your story:  Brooklyn Grace joined our family on May 4, 2015 at 4:00 pm. She weighed 7lbs and 14oz and was 19 inches long. She is perfect!

How did you choose your baby’s name?  My middle name is Brooke and I always wanted that to be my first name. I decided if I ever had a girl her name would be Brooklyn.

Who do you think your little one looks like most?  I can’t really tell yet. She looks like her own little person right now.

What is your favorite part about having your baby here with you?  Our family is complete and Carter has a little sister to grow up with. Im so thankful for two healthy babies.

How are you adjusting to multiple kids? Brooklyn has been a really easy baby. All she does is sleep and eat. Carter loves his baby sister. He likes to rub her head and give her kisses.

I’ve had a serious streak of baby plan babies becoming older siblings!  Sweet Carter is a big brother now, and it is going to be so much fun to watch him with his little sister!

.

.

Tell us your story:  We got Married almost three years ago and welcomed our first baby boy into the world Almost 2 years ago. We wanted Carter to have a sibling that was close in age. Although we would be happy if we were having a boy or girl we were hoping for a little girl to complete our family and that is what God blessed us with.

How did you find out that you were pregnant?  What was your reaction?  Well we were trying and I was taking pregnancy tests regularly and they were always negative. One day I took one and didn’t wait the three minutes and just sat it in the trash because it didn’t immediately say positive. Chris saw it on top of the trash and it said Pregnant!
